Observing the Pool Rules Will Help You Stay Safe…

 While making a splash at the Y!

Summer, and the fun that comes with it, is just around the corner and that includes beating the heat at the Butler-Gast Y. Once school ends and until it starts again, expect increased attendance at the pool and that means patience and courtesy will be the order of the day.

To ensure everyone’s enjoyment and safety, please take a minute to review the Y’s pool rules below:

  • RESPECT the lifeguards
  • No swimming without lifeguard supervision
  • All patrons must shower before swimming
  • Only appropriate swimwear is allowed
  • An adult 18 or older must accompany children 8 years of age and younger in the water
  • Children under the age of 15  must pass a swim test to go to the deep end
  • Diving is not allowed; no flips or back dives allowed
  • All patrons must observe a 10 minute break every hour
  • No spitting, spouting of water and nose blowing in the pool area
  • Patrons with contagious diseases, open sores, infectious conditions and sunburns may not enter the pool area
  • Abusive and foul language is not prohibited
  • Ladders and stairs are for entering and exiting the pool only
  • Do not play with or touch the ropes
  • Only Coast Guard or Y approved life jackets in the shallow end
  • Only lap swimmers in the lap lanes
  • Kick boards, pull boys, weights, etc., can only be used by classes
  • No glass anywhere
  • Smoking, eating, chewing gum is prohibited in the pool area
  • Pool will close for a fecal accident for at least 12-24 hours
  • ANYONE NOT ABIDING BY THESE RULES WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE

Please return all YMCA towels to the Welcome Center front desk.
